Food and gaming widgets: how to use them, data and privacy

How to use the food and gaming widgets — recipes, meal plan, shopping list, cook or takeout, timers, game time, library and progress — and which save to My Data.

These widgets live in the Food & Cooking and Gaming categories of the library (Food & Cooking, Gaming) and are all free. Sample content (sample recipes, made-up games) is labeled Sample; the label disappears once you enter your own.

We don't pull data from any recipe site, Steam or any other platform, and we don't use brand logos, official game art or screenshots — you write the recipes, lists, game titles and covers yourself.

Kitchen TimersPresets, one per line as “name minutes” (like “Eggs 8”)Tap to start; several can run at once with a chime when done
  • Weekly Meal Plan takes one line per day, with meals separated by /; use - to skip one.
  • Kitchen Timers play a chime generated in the browser — no audio files. Timers are remembered in this device's browser, so the remaining time is still there after a refresh, but the chime only plays while the page is open.

Shopping List

Ticks are saved to a Shopping list table in My Data: every tick, untick or new item adds an entry, and the table keeps the latest state per item name, which is what the widget reads.

  • Keep ticks until: the end of the week (clears on Monday) or the end of the day.
  • Use + to add an item on the go; items added in My Data (written in the last 60 days) show up too.
  • If others can open the page where it's embedded, turn off Allow adding items in the widget.

Cook or Takeout

Tap Home-cooked, Takeout or Eating out after a meal and optionally enter the cost (turn off Ask for the cost when logging to skip it). Entries go to a Meal log table, totaled by month. On public pages, turn on Hide amounts to show only counts and your home-cooked share.

Gaming widgets

Game Time TrackerTap +15 / +30 / +60 minutes; optional game, weekly plan or limitHeatmap, this week's hours, a day-by-day bar chart
Game Library & BacklogTitle, status (playing / backlog / beaten / on hold), platform, optional coverGame cards and counts per status
Game ProgressTitle, milestones (chapters, bosses, collectibles…), optional % / hours / start dateProgress bar and the next milestone
Game Release Countdown (icon)Title, release date, platformDays until launch, “Out today” on launch day
  • Game Time Tracker saves to a Gaming time table in My Data (minutes add up through the day). Tap a heatmap cell to backfill the last 7 days.
  • Game Library covers: only upload images you have the right to use (like a photo of your own game box). Without a cover, the widget generates a gradient card from the title.
  • Game Release Countdown is an animated icon you can place next to a Notion page title; it updates every day.

Connect My Data first

Shopping List, Cook or Takeout and Game Time Tracker save to My Data. The first time, choose Create a table and connect under Where data is saved in the editor, or pick an existing table of the same kind — see Data source. Until you connect, the widget asks you to.

Daily writes are limited: 20 a day on free accounts and 80 on Pro (with a per-table cap) — see Limits & Pro. Each tick on the shopping list counts as one.
