The editor and My widgets
Change a widget's settings and appearance, preview light and dark, copy embed links in different formats, and edit, duplicate, pin or delete widgets in My widgets.
Opening the editor
- New widget: open a widget in the library and click Create widget. The editor opens right after.
- Existing widget: avatar menu (top right) → My widgets (/manage), then click Edit on the widget.
What you can do in the editor
Left: settings. Settings holds options specific to this widget (the date of a countdown, the city for weather); Appearance covers the frame around it — border, corners, shadow, padding and margin. The preview updates immediately.
Right: preview.
- Drag the bottom-right corner to resize the preview. In Notion, the size of the embed box decides the real size.
- Switch the preview between As set, Light and Dark. This only changes the preview, not the widget's settings — handy for checking dark mode.
- If something looks off, click Refresh preview.
Top: title and save status. Rename the widget in the top-left corner (only you see this name, in My widgets). Changes save automatically; once it says Saved, refresh Notion to see them.
Copying the embed link
Copy embed link copies the most common format, which works in Notion, FlowUs, Obsidian and similar apps. The arrow next to it offers other formats:
| Format | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Common usage | Notion, FlowUs, Obsidian, Logseq, Roam and other note apps |
| Legacy usage | Wolai |
usage | WordPress and other websites (animated icons) |
usage | GitHub, WordPress (animated icons and covers) |
| Markdown | GitHub README (animated icons and covers) |
My widgets
My widgets lists every widget, animated icon and animated cover you've made, with a filter by type. For each one you can:
- Edit: open it in the editor.
- Copy link: copy the embed link without opening the editor.
- Duplicate: make a copy to experiment on without touching the original.
- Pin to top: keep favorites first.
- Delete: the link stops working wherever you've pasted it, and this can't be undone. Use Select to delete several at once.
Free accounts can create a limited number of items; the page shows how many you've used. At the limit, delete ones you don't need or upgrade to Pro for no limits.
