Connect Todoist to bring your real tasks into Focus
Bring your Todoist tasks into Focus, your start page and the extension; check one off to complete it in Todoist. Link only, no sign-in.
Once you connect Todoist, your real tasks show up in WidgetStore: no more switching apps while you focus, and checking a task off here completes it in Todoist too. It's a link only: you can't sign in or sign up with Todoist, and your sign-in methods don't change.
Linear support is coming soon; this page will cover it when it's ready.
How to connect
- Sign in, open Settings → Connected accounts, and click Connect Todoist.
- Approve on Todoist's authorization page. By default we ask to read and complete tasks (
data:read_write— Todoist has no narrower "complete only" permission). If you only want to see tasks, use Connect read-only under the card (data:read). - Back in WidgetStore, the card shows your name and the date you connected.
The connection link is valid for 10 minutes and must be finished in the same browser and WidgetStore account where you started. Each Todoist account can be connected to only one WidgetStore account; use Switch to change accounts.
Which tasks show up
By default: today + overdue. On the Todoist card in Settings → Connected accounts you can switch to today only, a project, or any Todoist filter (for example today | overdue | #Work). It applies right away.
What it unlocks
| Where | What you get |
|---|---|
| Focus to-dos | A "From Todoist" section below your own to-dos, with priority, estimate and due date. Checking one off completes it in Todoist, with a few seconds to undo. ▶ starts a focus session on it, and "Today at a glance" and "Plan my day" (rules or AI) include them |
| Log focus time on tasks | Off by default. When on, finishing a focus session on a task adds a comment to it in Todoist, such as "⏱ Focused for 25 min in WidgetStore" |
| Start page to-do tile | Today's Todoist tasks follow your own to-dos, and you can check them off there |
| Browser extension popup | The top 3 Todoist tasks under "Next up" (the website needs to be signed in too) |
| Widgets | "Todoist Today" and "Task Progress" for Notion, your personal page or start page (see privacy below) |
| AI (MCP) | Claude, ChatGPT and other apps you connect can read your tasks with list_my_tasks and complete them with complete_task (needs the "Todoist / Linear tasks" permission; can be undone) |
| Sync to My Data | Off by default. When on, the number of tasks you complete each day (no titles) goes into a read-only "Completed tasks" table for Notion charts and heatmaps |
Completing a recurring Todoist task moves it to its next date, so that can't be undone.
Privacy: public widgets show counts only
Widgets on Notion or your personal page can be seen by anyone with the link, and task titles are often personal, so:
- Task widgets show counts only by default (to do today, overdue, done today, last 7 days).
- To show task titles in a widget, both switches must be on: "Show task titles in public widgets" in Settings, and "Task titles" in the widget editor. "Task Progress" never shows titles.
- In Focus, your start page and the extension popup, tasks only appear while you're signed in.
- We cache tasks for 90 seconds to 5 minutes and don't keep task content. Tokens are encrypted and used only on our servers. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Expired access and disconnecting
- Access renews automatically. If you revoke it in Todoist, or it expires after a long time unused, Settings and Focus show "Reconnect needed" — just click Reconnect.
- Disconnect revokes WidgetStore's access and removes the link. Your "Completed tasks" table in My Data stays; you can delete it in My Data.
