What it does
Your start page as the new tab: Your sites, widgets and wallpaper. It remembers the last version, so it shows up instantly, even offline.
Focus timer: Start or pause from the toolbar. It keeps running when the popup closes and logs to your focus space.
Next to-do: Sorted by priority and due date. Check off or add to-dos in the popup, synced with your focus space.
Habit check-ins: Today's habits in one row. One tap to check in.
Daily check-in: Check in from the popup to earn Sparks and keep your streak.
Save any page: From the popup or right-click menu, save a page to Read later on your start page, or turn selected text into a to-do.
Address bar search: Type ws and a space in the address bar to search widgets and the sites on your start page.
4 languages, light & dark: Simplified and Traditional Chinese, English and Japanese, following your browser. Light and dark follow your system.
Only the permissions it needs
The extension doesn't read your browsing history or run on other websites. It only talks to widgetstore.net. Here's what each permission is for:
Storage: keeps your settings, start page snapshot and timer on this device.
Alarms: ends the focus timer on time, even with the popup closed.
Notifications: tells you when a focus session or break ends.
Context menus: “Save to start page” and “Add to to-dos”.
Active tab: reads the current page's address and title only when you click the extension, so you can save it.
Search: the new tab's search box uses your browser's default search engine.
widgetstore.net: shows your start page, syncs to-dos, habits and focus sessions, check-in and sign-in.
Yes, the extension is free. Features work like on the website, with limits from your account (such as daily focus syncs), on both Free and Pro.
Which browsers are supported?
Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox on desktop. Safari needs a separate build and may come later.
Does it read my browsing history?
No. Only when you click “Save this page” or “Add to to-dos” does it send that page's address, title or the text you selected, and only to widgetstore.net.
How do I get my browser's new tab back?
In the extension's settings under New tab, choose “Browser's own new tab” (Chrome) or “Simple”. On Edge and Firefox, turn the extension off in your browser's extension settings to fully restore it (on Firefox you can also use Settings → Home).
Do I need to sign in?
The timer and the simple new tab work without an account. To see your start page, to-dos, habits and Sparks, click “Sign in & connect” and confirm once on the website. You never type a password into the extension, and the connection lasts 30 days.
Does it work offline?
The new tab remembers your last start page (site links and wallpaper), so it opens offline and updates when you're back online. The timer keeps running offline and syncs later.
