Quick start: your first Notion widget in 3 steps
From signing in to seeing a widget in Notion — pick a widget, style it in the editor, copy the embed link and paste it into Notion. It takes a few minutes.
WidgetStore makes three kinds of things, and all of them work in Notion:
- Widgets: small interactive web pages — clocks, countdowns, weather, calendars, habit trackers, progress bars — that you embed in a page.
- Animated icons: images that update by themselves (today's date, days left until an event) that you use as a Notion page icon.
- Animated covers: wide images that change over time, used as a Notion page cover.
See Widgets, animated icons and covers: what's the difference? for when to use which. Below we'll walk through a widget from scratch.
1. Sign in or sign up
Open the login page, enter your email, click Continue, and type in the 6-digit code from the email. A new email creates an account automatically — there's no separate sign-up step.
2. Pick a widget and create it
- Open the widget library and browse by category. Not sure where to start? The Notion widget guide groups widgets by use: clocks, countdowns, weather, habit trackers and more.
- Open a widget and click Create widget.
- The editor opens as soon as it's created.
Widgets marked Pro need a Pro membership. Everything else is free to create, with a limit on how many a free account can have (see Pro benefits).
3. Style it and paste the link into Notion
- Change the text, colors, size and other settings on the left. The preview on the right updates as you go, and changes save automatically.
- Click Copy embed link in the top-right corner.
- On a Notion page, type
/embed, paste the link and press Enter. Or simply paste the link and choose Embed from the menu. - Drag the corners of the embed to resize it.
To change the style later, open My widgets and click Edit. Refresh Notion and you'll see the new look — no need to copy the link again.
