Android app: any widget on your home screen, focus offline
The WidgetStore Android app: native screens that work offline, a home-screen widget that shows any of your widgets, and QR sign-in for your computer.
The WidgetStore Android app is a native app: it opens with your last data, and focus timers, tasks and habit check-ins work offline and sync when you're back online. Any widget you've made can go on your home screen, and you can sign in on a computer just by scanning a code with the app. Pages like the editor, your dashboard and My Data open the website inside the app, so they're always up to date.
Install
The app is being prepared for Google Play. Until then, install it from the download page:
- On your phone, open the download page and tap Download APK (on a computer, scan the QR code on that page with your phone), then open the downloaded
widgetstore-<version>.apk. - The first time, Android says installing unknown apps isn't allowed: tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source for the app you used to open the file (Files, your browser or a chat app), then go back and tap Install.
- "WidgetStore" appears on your home screen.
The download page lists where the setting is on Xiaomi, Huawei, OPPO, vivo, Samsung and Pixel phones, plus the APK's SHA-256 so you can check the file hasn't been changed.
Updates
When a new version is out, the app shows Version x is available. Tap Download to get the new APK in your browser, then open it to install over the old one — your data stays. Later silences that version; you can check any time under Me → About → Check for updates. If your version is too old for some features to work, the prompt can't be dismissed until you update.
- Continue with email: enter your email in the app and type the 6-digit code.
- Sign in with Google and more: the app opens your browser; after signing in, tap Connect and return to the app. Google doesn't allow signing in inside embedded web views, so these go through the browser.
The app never stores your password. Your session is encrypted on this phone and lasts 30 days.
Sign in on a computer with a QR code
- Open the sign-in page on your computer and click Sign in with the WidgetStore app. A QR code appears (valid for 2 minutes — click it to refresh).
- In the app, tap Scan (top right of Home, or Me → More) and point it at the code. The first time, the app asks for camera access; the camera is only used to read the code, and nothing is saved or uploaded.
- The app shows which computer is asking (browser, system, rough location and time). If it's the computer you're using, tap Sign in.
The four tabs
| Tab | What it is |
|---|---|
| Home | Today's focus minutes, open tasks and next event; shortcuts for Scan, New widget, Start page and Home screen; all your widgets with real thumbnails — open one to add it to your home screen, copy the embed link, share, edit, rename or delete |
| Library | One large card per widget so you can see what each one looks like: New arrivals at the top, then every widget. Search, type and category sit at the top, and the category row stays pinned as you scroll. Each card has Add and Add to Home; tap a card for details. Widgets made for other regions are grouped at the end — tap Show to expand. If nothing matches, tap Describe it and let AI make it |
| Focus | Pomodoro timer (25 / 50 / 90 min), Focus Rooms and My forest, ambient sound (white, pink, brown noise), stats, tasks, agenda, habits and goals. The timer keeps running outside the app, the notification has Pause / Resume / Skip / Stop, and you get an alert when it ends. On Android 16 it also shows on the lock screen and status bar (see Live Updates) |
| Me | Account, sync status, Connections, home-screen widgets, language and appearance, My Data, My Page, storage and clearing the cache, checking for updates |
Home-screen widgets
The WidgetStore widget can show any of your widgets — basic widgets, icons, backgrounds — or the app's built-in Time progress, Today, Focus, Clock, Calendar, Habits and Focus this week.
- Add one: open any widget on Home → Add to home screen; tap Add and put on home screen in the Library; or long-press your home screen → Widgets → drag WidgetStore onto the screen and choose what to show.
- Nothing happens on Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO (HyperOS)? It needs the Home screen shortcuts permission. The app explains this: tap Open permission settings → Other permissions → Home screen shortcuts → Allow, and it tries again when you come back. Or add it by hand: long-press an empty spot → Add widgets → search for WidgetStore → drag it out; the widget you just chose is preselected. Huawei / Honor, OPPO / OnePlus and vivo have similar settings, and the app shows the right steps for your phone.
- Change it: long-press the widget → Reconfigure (Android 12+), or tap it under Me → Home screen in the app.
- Rotate: pick several and use the ‹ › in the corner, or turn on Rotate on refresh.
- Refresh: every 15 min, 30 min, 1 h or 3 h. Built-in content (time, tasks, focus, habits) changes the moment your data does; widget images are drawn on your phone, and prepared ahead of time while charging on Wi-Fi.
- Offline: it shows the last image, labelled with its age (like "3h ago").
- The three widgets from 1.0.0 (Time progress, Today, Focus) still work. On Android 12+, you can tick off tasks in Today right on the home screen.
- If other people see your phone, turn off Show titles in widgets under Me so tasks and events show only counts.
Couple & family spaces
Create one under Me → Couple & family space: a couple space is for 2 people, a circle for up to 8. Tap Invite to get a QR code and link; they scan it with Scan in the app or open the link to join (works once, for 24 hours).
- Miss you: one tap makes their phone buzz with a notification, and their home-screen widget shows "Just missed you". There's no push service, so it arrives within 20 seconds while they have the app open and within 15 minutes otherwise.
- Photos to their home screen: snap one or pick from your gallery; it's compressed on your phone and appears on their "Latest shared photo" widget. Each space keeps only the latest 6 photos, deleted after 48 hours.
- Location: off by default. Choose City only or Precise, and pause for 4 hours any time. It updates at most every 15 minutes, and the server keeps only your latest point for 12 hours — no history. You'll see how far apart you are.
- Automatic status: set Home and Work, and they'll be told when you get home, arrive at work or reach a new city (status only). This needs location set to Allow all the time in system settings.
- Anniversaries and mood: days together and the countdown to your next anniversary; pick a mood each day for them to see.
- Anyone can leave, report a photo or block from More. Leaving deletes your location, mood and photos in that space.
Phone calendar & contact birthdays
Turn these on under Me → Phone:
- Phone calendar: adds your phone's events (you choose which calendars) to Today on Home, the Focus tab and widgets.
- Contact birthdays: reads only birthdays from your contacts for the "Upcoming birthdays" widget, with optional reminders around 9 AM on the day and the day before.
Both are read on your phone only; events and contacts are never uploaded.
Health & screen time
- Health: reads steps, sleep and resting heart rate through Google's Health Connect (install it and connect your fitness app first). Widgets can show steps and sleep. The sleep score is calculated on your phone: 7–9 hours earns the full 80 points, plus 20 points for falling asleep between 9 PM and 12:30 AM.
- Screen time: after you allow Usage access in system settings, see today's screen-on time and unlocks next to your focus time.
- Upload daily totals (off by default): sends only a few numbers per day (steps, sleep, heart rate, screen time, unlocks) to system tables in My Data, so you can chart them in Notion. Raw records and which apps you used are never uploaded. Turn it off any time and delete the tables.
Focus Rooms & My forest
The Focus tab has a Focus Rooms card and a My forest card; both are also in the shortcuts on Home.
- Open a room: tap Open a room, send the link or QR code to friends, and focus together on one shared timer. See Focus Rooms.
- Join: tap Join and paste the link or type the 10-character room code. Tapping a room link a friend sent you, or scanning a room QR code with Scan, also opens it in the app. Rooms you joined recently (kept on this phone only, up to 5, for 7 days) are listed on the card.
- Stays connected when locked: while you are in a room, a "Focus Room in progress" notification keeps the connection alive in the background and with the screen locked. It goes away when you leave the room or close the page.
- My forest: the card shows the energy you collected today (with a daily cap), how many trees you have planted, energy you can spend and your streak. Tap it to see your forest. These are virtual trees; see My forest. You can also pick My forest for a home-screen widget.
Live Updates (Android 16 / Xiaomi Super Island)
From Android 16, things in progress can show at the top of the lock screen and as a chip in the status bar, without opening the notification shade. Xiaomi HyperOS shows them as Super Island. WidgetStore has three:
- Focus timer: focus or break, the countdown, where you are in the round (focus and breaks shown as segments) and which round; pause / resume and skip right there; tap to open the app.
- Focus Rooms: whether everyone is focusing or on a break, the time left and how many people are in the room.
- Downloading an update: download progress, which turns into Install when it is ready — tap to install.
How to turn it on: it is usually on already. If you don't see it, the app reminds you once after you start focusing — tap Open settings to go straight there. Or turn it on yourself:
- Open the system Settings → Notifications (on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO: Settings → Notifications & Control center).
- Find WidgetStore and turn on Live Updates (Xiaomi may call it Super Island or Show in status bar).
Offline
With no connection you can still: run and log focus sessions, play ambient sound, add / rename / complete Focus tasks, check off habits, browse your widgets and the Library, and use home-screen widgets. Completing Todoist or Linear tasks and renaming or deleting widgets take effect on your phone right away, marked Waiting to sync, and are sent when you're back online. Creating widgets, previews, the editor and the dashboard need a connection.
Share links to Read later
In any app (browser, chat, social), tap Share → WidgetStore (Save to Read later) and the link goes into your dashboard's Read later. It's the same as Save this page in the browser extension — you can undo it or move it to another page.
Privacy
- Permissions: internet, notifications (focus timer; Android 13+ asks the first time you start focusing), camera (only asked when you open Scan), foreground playback (so ambient sound keeps playing with the screen locked), foreground data sync (only while you are in a Focus Room, so it stays connected with the screen locked) and Live Updates (Android 16 shows the timer on the lock screen and status bar; granted at install, no prompt). Focus Rooms never use the camera or microphone.
- From 1.2.0, calendar, contact birthdays, health, screen time and location are all off by default; the app asks for a permission only when you turn the matching feature on. Calendar and contacts are read on the phone only and never uploaded.
- No ads or third-party analytics. Ambient sound is generated on the phone — nothing is downloaded.
- Your data is kept in the app's private storage on this phone (excluded from system backups) so it works offline. Signing out deletes all data, caches and widget images from this phone. Me → Storage shows how much space is used, and Clear cache removes image and web caches. See the privacy policy.
FAQ
Why are some pages still web pages? The editor, dashboard, My Data and Connections open the website inside the app, so they update the moment the website does. Home, Library, Focus, Me, Scan and the home-screen widgets are native.
How often do home-screen widgets update? At the rate you chose for each one (30 minutes by default); Android may batch updates to save battery. Opening the app refreshes them right away.
Scanning says QR sign-in isn't available yet? The server hasn't been updated to support it yet — try again later, or sign in on the computer with an email code for now.
Is there an iPhone app? Not yet — Android comes first. On iPhone, open your dashboard in Safari and use Add to Home Screen.
